Achieving the installation of signage nearly 100 metres in the air is always a challenge fraught with complexity, however, it wasn’t to be an obstacle we couldn’t overcome.
Spanning 16 metres in length, 1.5 metres tall and weighing over 1,400 kilogrammes each, we were appointed to manufacture and install two sets of built up internally face illuminated letters for City of Glasgow College to the rooftop of their main Riverside Campus building.
The sheer scale of these signs, along with the location and exposed environment at which they were to be sited required us to be diligent and thorough with each stage of the project. From structural and construction design to material selection, fabrication techniques to transportation methodology, installation process and even future aftercare maintenance, we had to apply a considered, professional approach to ensure the project was completed safely and successfully.
Manufactured with powder coated aluminium carcasses and special light diffusing acrylic faces, all mounted upon sectional galvanised mild steel frames, each letter was pre-wired in our factory before being hoisted by crane to high level for securely fixing to the building, electrical supply connection and illumination testing.
Resulting in an attractive addition to the city skyline, the College’s prominence and presence is now visible for all to see.
Additionally, we supplied various other forms of signage across the Campus including directional wayfinding for staff, students and visitors including signage to aid those with visual impairment, illuminated menu displays for the popular on-site restaurant and graphical feature walls throughout which consisted of inspiring and intriguing images.
